It appears Larry King‘s wife, Shawn Southwick, overdosed on pills on May 28, based on a 911 call placed by her father Karl Engemann.
Engemann, 76, tells the 911 operator that he believes his daughter overmedicated, but doesn’t think it was a suicide attempt. “I don’t think she did it on purpose. Last night she seemed confused about what she had taken, the last time she had taken it.”
He tells the emergency operator that Shawn, 50, has been taking medication to help with anxiety and depression, and that he arrived at her home because he was supposed to go to a meeting with her and “can’t wake her up.”
Larry and Shawn King filed for divorce on April 14, but reconciled a short time later. Both are accused of affairs — Shawn with her son’s baseball coach, and Larry with Shawn’s sister Shannon.
Shawn is wife number seven and marriage number eight for King. In 2008, Shawn entered rehab for addiction to pain pills.
