The often controversial comedian Kathy Griffin has done it again. She boldly declared on her Bravo reality show that the daughters of Massachusetts GOP Senator Scott Brown are “prostitutes”.

The contrived reality show segment featured CNN reporters Dana Bash and John King testing Griffin’s political knowledge. King held up a photo of Scott Brown and Griffin responded, “Scott Brown, who is a senator from Massachusetts and has two daughters that are prostitutes.” That clip was followed within seconds by a disclaimer from Bravo’s legal department: “Scott Brown’s daughters ARE NOT prostitutes!!!”

The joke fell flat as far as Brown was concerned. He said, “People can call me any name they want, but families are off limits. I love my daughters, Ayla and Arianna, very much, and any parent would be proud to have them as children. Kathy Griffin and Bravo ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

Adrianna, 19, is a pre-med student at Syracuse University and a part-time model. Ayla, 21, is a singer who appeared on American Idol and is a special correspondent for The Early Show on CBS. During his decidedly ‘giddy’ U.S. Senate victory speech in January, he said that his daughters were “single and available”.

Sarah Palin was in a similar spot with David Letterman last year when he made inappropriate comments about her daughter. The late night talk show host eventually apologized after she ‘tweeted’ him with both barrels.

In yet another breach against children of politicians, Glen Beck mocked Malia Obama and later apologized.
