In an uncomfortable moment of art imitating life, Justin Bieber gets a brutal beating from actor Michael Madsen in his new video “As Long As You Love Me.”

Madsen, who was arrested in March and charged with child endangerment and cruelty to a child after a fight with his teenage son, plays an overprotective father in the video warning Bieber to “hit the road” and stay away from his daughter.

“As Long As You Love Me,” which features rapper Big Sean, is Bieber’s first attempt at dubstep, a style of music described as “tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass line and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals.”

“Boyfriend” was the turning point for Beiber from boy to man, and “As Long As You Love Me,” directed by Anthony Mandler, takes that point to the gritty edge.
