Happy Days star Tom Bosley has passed away at his home in Palm Springs, California, he was 83-years-old.
Bosley, who played Richie Cunningham’s dad on the the ’70s sitcom about the ’50s, died of a staph infection.
Bosley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then made his stage debut in Our Town with Chicago’s Canterbury Players. He won a Tony Award for his portrayal of New York Mayor Fiorello La Guardia in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Fiorello!
Bosley’s Happy Days costar Henry Winkler expressed his sadness, telling Los Angeles’s KNX-1070 News Radio, “I’m in shock, I really am. I spoke to him just a few weeks ago and he seemed to be getting his strength back.”
