OMG! Gwyneth Paltrow a country singer? Who knew? Certainly not the actress. She is as astonished as anyone that a tune she sang for her upcoming movie “Country Strong” could be released as a single, but that is exactly what has transpired.
The song, featuring background vocals by Vince Gill and Patty Griffin, was released by Sony Music under their RCA Record label to country radio on July 26. It is the first release from the original motion picture soundtrack, set to release on October 26.
She never imagined her song would be a potential radio hit. When Joe Galante heard it he said, “I want to release this.” Her first thought was: “What the hell? Excuse me please? What? What is going on?”
The film features Paltrow as a washed up country singer who is trying to resurrect her career after a stint in rehab. Playing opposite the actress as her on-screen husband is country singer Tim McGraw, who recently portrayed the husband of Sandra Bullock‘s character in “The Blindside”.
Actually Paltrow has had some experience in this arena, having achieved a hit single with Huey Lewis in 2000 – Cruisin’ from the film “Duets” – check it out below.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention another strong music connection. Gwyneth is married to Coldplay lead vocalist Chris Martin. They have two young children.
