Olympic gold medal winning gymnast Gabby Douglas was pampered in style on Wednesday by celebrity hairstylist to the stars Ted Gibson.

Her hair guru gave her frizz-free, center-parted waves that fall a few inches below her shoulders, a departure from her usual no nonsense slicked-back ponytail.

The 16-year-old shared her new ‘do photos on Twitter along with a message, “Ted Gibson is AWESOME!!!! A special thank you to my Gold Medal Celebrity Hair Stylist!”

Gibson tweeted, “It’s 3am, just left Ted Gibson NYC. Love you Gabrielle Douglas. What an amazing young lady you are #award winner #gibsongirlsruletheworld.”

The young phenom took some media heat after winning not one but two gold medals during the London Games. She was widely criticized for pulling back her hair and securing it with multiple clips to keep it in place.

She responded, “They have no idea what they’re talking about. We rotate from event to event so there’s no time in between. It’s so disrespectful. I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about bringing gold medals home.”

Her new hairstylist was shocked too, “I couldn’t believe it and still can’t. You have this young girl doing amazing things, and the conversation becomes about her hair? It was ridiculous and shameful.”
