Celebrity chef Juan-Carlos Cruz, the former host of Food Network show “Calorie Commando” and “Take It Off”, may be spending some time behind bars. The ‘Pastrydude’ was arrested on Thursday May 14, 2010 in Santa Monica, California for his part in a murder-for-hire plot.
Cruz tried to hire a number of homeless people to carry out a murder. Several of them contacted police and agreed to help with a sting. Police have had Cruz under surveillance since May 7th and gathered enough evidence to arrest him a week later.
The chef is being held on $5 million bail on a charge of “solicitation to commit murder”. The intended victim has been notified but that person’s identity has not been released to the press.
