Iconic Pin-Up Poster made her a star …

The iconic red one-piece close fitting swimsuit worn by Farrah Fawcett is heading to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.

Actor Ryan O’Neal, her longtime companion, has donated a number of items including the swimsuit, an original copy of the pin-up poster, a leather-bound book of scripts from the first season of Charlie’s Angels, a Fawcett swimsuit jigsaw puzzle, and a 1977 Farrah doll.

The items will be displayed in the museum’s pop culture history collection.

Farrah lost her battle with cancer at age 62 on June 25, 2009 — the same day that Michael Jackson died. Many feel that his death greatly diminished the media coverage that her death and memorial service would have garnered under different circumstances.
