There was a scare at a Los Angeles studio Friday night that caused the evacuation at the Dancing with the Stars production office. A threatening letter, containing a white powder substance and reportedly addressed to Bristol Palin, was turned over to authorities for investigation.
An employee going through fan mail made the discovery and phoned 911, believing the material might contain anthrax. None of the celebrity contestants was rehearsing at the time of the scare.
DWTS show personnel called LAPD and issued this statement: “Measures were taken to secure the area and ensure the safety of personnel. Ultimately we were advised by the Los Angeles Fire Department that the substance was determined to be talcum powder.”
The FBI would not confirm reports that the letter had been addressed to the Alaska teen who will compete in the finals on Monday and Tuesday against Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey.
