Cloris Leachman has been cast in the new television sitcom Raising Hope on FOX this fall. She’ll be playing a crazy great-grandma — not necessarily a stretch for the veteran actress.

The comedic 84-year-old will co-star with Martha Plimpton and Garret Dillahunt in an interesting premise: a single guy ends up caring for the baby he fathered when he had a fling with a serial killer. He turns to his mom and his slightly-off great-granny for assistance.

The trio held a press conference to field questions about the new FOX show. When asked why she would want to return to television at this stage of her life, she responded: “God knows. Isn’t it ridiculous?” The questioner suggested that it was an attempt to show up 88-year-old Betty White. Leachman quipped: “I’m so sick of Betty White. Never liked her.”

White appears on the new TV Land sitcom Hot in Cleveland. It turns out that the actress has a bit of a shady past — nude photos.

Cloris is the oldest contestant to ever participate on Dancing with the Stars. She made her debut during Season 7 and became a fan favorite, who managed to dance her heart out for seven weeks before getting the boot.
