Chris Brown appeared in court Monday to face allegations that he has violated his probation.

The hearing, held in a Los Angeles Superior Court, revealed that Brown tested positive for marijuana use in a random drug test conducted last June in Virginia.

Brown told Virginia officials that he has a medical marijuana card and smoked the weed in California, however, the drug test was conducted in Virginia where the singer is carrying out his community service sentence.

Prosecutors also claim the singer has violated travel restrictions. A follow-up hearing has been scheduled for November 1.

Judge Patricia Schnegg reprimanded Brown, telling him he “should be very mindful of obeying all laws and rules.”

“You are not an average person. A lot of people look up to you, a lot of kids. What you do and what you say impacts a lot of people,” the judge advised.

Prior to the hearing, Rihanna tweeted her encouragement to Brown.
