Chaz Bono has struggled with his weight all of his adult lift and is about to embark on a public mission to shed 50 to 80 pounds with the help of the popular television show The Doctors.
Dr. Travis Stork, an ER physician and co-host on the popular syndicated talk show, sat down to interview the former DWTS celeb for an episode that will air on Nov. 14, with followup progress updates to be broadcast throughout 2013.
Cher‘s oldest child tips the scale at 250 lbs. The 5’ 5-1/2″ activist revealed, “There was a lot of pressure to be underweight growing up. I wasn’t an overweight child but I was still put on diets all the time.”
By going public, Bono hopes the added pressure of visibility will give him more incentive to drop a considerable amount of weight.
His father, the late Sonny Bono, was one-half of the popular 60’s and 70’s singing duo Sonny & Cher. The couple later divorced and the entertainer went on to a successful political career representing California in the U.S. House of Representatives. Sonny died in a skiing accident near Lake Tahoe in 1998.
