Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney were rocking the crowd in London’s Hyde Park Saturday night when local officials ordered the sound system shut down.
The Boss and his E Street Band welcomed the former Beatle on stage to sing “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Twist and Shout” near the end of the three-hour performance. Unfortunately, the pair never got a chance to thank the crowd, who began to boo loudly as the lights came on and they were instructed to leave the venue.
Concert organizer Live Nation released a statement expressing their regret that the show was abruptly halted “right at the very end.” They did, however, acknowledge that the curfew had been mandated by authorities “in the interest of the public’s health and safety.”
Hyde Park is situated near London’s wealthiest neighborhood. The residents have put strong pressure on local officials to end the late-night noise by 10:30 p.m.
