Barbara Pierce Bush has taken a public stand in support of same-sex marriage. The nearly 30-year-old twin daughter of George W. Bush and his wife Laura, recently filmed a PSA on behalf of The Human Rights Campaign.

Her message: “I am Barbara Bush, and I am a New Yorker for marriage equality. New York is about fairness and equality. And everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love. Join us.”

The former ‘first daughter’ lives in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City and is the founder and president of a public health-focused non-profit, Global Health Corps.

Bush, a Yale graduate in 2004, has joined the ranks of Meghan McCain and Mary Cheney in supporting same-sex marriage. Despite the fact that her father took a far different view on the subject, mother Laura told The Times last year: “When couples are committed to each other and love each other they are entitled to the same sort of rights that everyone has.”

Cindy McCain and her daughter took part in a NO H8 silent protest ad campaign last year.
