Lisa Blount 1957-2010

Academy Award winning actress Lisa Blount was found dead Wednesday at her Hillcrest home in Little Rock by her mother, Louise Blount. The actress and producer was 53.

She is survived by her husband of twelve years, actor and director Ray McKinnon. He recently portrayed Coach Cotton in The Blind Side. McKinnon was in Atlanta on business when his wife’s body was discovered at 2:00 p.m.

Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper indicated there were no signs of foul play. He believes that the actress died on Monday, October 25. A private autopsy has been requested by the family.

Blount was recently inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame and was working on a pilot for the FX network that was shooting in Nashville.

The actress was best down for her Golden Globe nominated role as Lynette Pomeroy in the classic 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman. In 2001, she and her husband won an Oscar for their live-action short film The Accountant. She produced it and he directed and starred in the film.
