FIFA has just announced that the 2018 World Cup will be held in Russia. The 2022 World Cup bid goes to Qatar.

FIFA president Joseph S. Blatter announced the host countries in a press conference this morning.

Russia beat out Spain/Portugal, Netherlands/Belgium and England.

Qatar beat out Japan, Australia, the United States and South Korea.

The FIFA World Cup has been held since 1930. Under FIFA rules, the games must go to a different continent every four years. The 2014 series will be held in Brazil.
