Former NFL star and convicted criminal O.J. Simpson will make a bid next week for a new trial on the grounds that his lawyer provided inadequate representation..

Simpson is slated to appear in Las Vegas County District Court to testify that his former lawyer, Yale Galanter, gave him poor legal advice before he carried out his crime, resulting in his conviction.

O.J. reportedly shared  his plan with Yale in 2007 and was told that as long as he didn't trespass or touch anyone, he wouldn't be breaking any laws.

Prosecutors offered him a plea deal during the trial.  Simpson said in the 94-page trial request, "Had I understood that there was an actual chance of conviction, I would have accepted such an offer."

The athlete is serving a nine-to-33-year sentence and won't be eligible for parole for another 5 years.

He was acquitted in the 1995 murders of ex-wife Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman, leading many to call it justice served when he landed in jail for another crime.

Chief Deputy district attorney H. Leon Simon will argue that the evidence in the 2007 trial was sufficient for a conviction.
