During the final night of ‘DWTS: All-Stars’ competition, the three remaining celebrity contestants performed an Instant Dance less than an hour after being assigned music and a specific style.
After night one of a two-part finale event, Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani were at the top for the leaderboard with a perfect 60 for their two performances. Next best scores for the night went to Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy with 59.
At the bottom of the leaderboard after a rules dispute with the judges were Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough with 57.
Pro Louis Van Amstel weighed in on this special season that brought back past winners and runners-up: “It was by far the most amazing when it comes to production value, the dance level of the celebrities and the camaraderie among the couples.”
During the final night of competition the two wildly popular season 15 group dances — “Gangnam Style” and “Call Me Maybe,” were recreated by returning cast members, with the exception of the three finalists who had enough on their plate.
Starting out the final performance were Kelly & Val with the Instant Jive, giving them a total composite score of 87.5. Next up were Melissa & Tony dancing the Instant Samba for a final score of 88.5. Last up doing the Instant Cha Cha were Shawn & Derek who earned three 10’s for a total of 87.
When the scores were combined with last night’s viewer votes, Tom Bergeron revealed to the live audience that the third place finisher was Kelly Monaco. Runner-up honors went to Shawn Johnson.
Crowned the winner of the All-Stars mirror ball trophy were Melissa Rycroft and her pro partner Tony Dovolani.
