Madonna's Denver Concert Featured Guns, Blood: VIDEO
Madonna angered some fans during the Denver leg of her MDNA Tour Thursday night when she brandished guns at a big screen that became splattered with a simulated blood bath.
The second act of her show at the Pepsi Center involved a gun fight between the iconic singer and a masked gunman. She sang 'Gang Bang' that featured these recurring lyrics: Bang Bang Shot You Dead, Bang Bang in the Head."
Two dozen concertgoers reportedly bolted from the venue, visibly upset by the display that they found unsettling in light of the recent Aurora theater massacre that killed twelve, wounded 71 and traumatized scores in the nearby suburb.
In response to the criticism, Madonna said: "I do not condone violence or the use of guns. Rather they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging."
Madge's publicist weighed in, indicating the set piece could not be altered because it was too integral to the show. She said, "It's like taking out the third act of Hamlet. Madonna does not make things pretty and tie them up with a bow."
