Kyle Glover, 11, son of Tameka Foster, was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta Friday after being struck in the head by a jet-ski.
The stepson of R & B singer Usher Raymond was riding on an inner tube that was being pulled behind a boat on Lake Lanier when a 38-year-old man struck the boy and an unidentified girl, 15.
According to Department of Natural Resources Sergeant Mike Burgamy, the boy was unresponsive when he was rescued from the water. He remains in intensive care.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident and the DNR is still investigating to determine if charges will be filed against the jet-ski operator.
Usher reportedly chartered a private jet to transport his ex-wife Tameka Foster, who was out of town, to the Atlanta bedside of her injured child.
The couple finalized their divorce in 2009 and share custody of their two biological children; Usher V, 4, and Naviyd Eli, 3.
Kyle is the son of Atlanta based clothier Ryan Glover. Tameka began dating the businessman in 1998 and they wed in 2001 and finalized their divorce in 2007. Their other son Ryan was born in 1999.
Tameka posted a photo of her son on Twitter in late June with the caption, “My favorite 11 year old human! Brainiac, artist, chef. My most helpful son. He goes the extra mile 4 his mom.”
Fantasia Barrino sent out a Twitter plea, “Everyone PLEASE pray for Usher and Tameka’s son! This is the time they really need your prayers!”
Music mogul Russell Simmons tweeted, “Praying that Usher and Tameka’s son is OK.”
Update: Kyle Glover has been declared brain dead, according to multiple sources including TMZ. The boy has been unresponsive since the accident on Friday and remains on life support.
