Miguel Cabrera Mugshot
Detroit Tigers first baseman, Miguel Cabrera, was arrested for DUI late Wednesday night in Florida.
Cabrera, 27, was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail at 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence and two counts of resisting an officer without violence.
According to the police report, Cabrera, who lives in Miami, and had not yet reported for spring training in Lakeland, took a swig of James Buchanan’s Scotch Whiskey, and refused to get into a patrol car after the 2005 Land Rover he was driving was spotted smoking on the side of the road.
Cabrera cursed deputies, and kept saying, “Do you know who I am? You don’t know anything about my problems,” as they tried to get him into a patrol car.
After several attempts to get him into the patrol vehicle, the arresting deputy says he lifted Cabrera’s hand to gain pain compliance, and then Cabrera “pushed off the vehicle into me.”
The deputy then struck the ballplayer in the left thigh several times with his knee, and he fell into the patrol car.
He was released at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, after posting $1350 bond.
