George Bush: Kanye West Remarks Most Disgusting Moment of Presidency (VIDEO)

matt lauer interviews george w bush1

Former President George W. Bush sat down with Today Show host Matt Lauer for an in-depth interview that will air on Monday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET as a special primetime Matt Lauer Reports.

The candid discussion delved into the former commander-in-chief's  new memoir Decision Points.  One startling revelation deals with an unscripted comment that rapper Kanye West made during an NBC Hurricane Katrina telethon.

West said: "George Bush doesn't care about black people."  Bush told Lauer: "That means 'he's a racist.'  I didn't appreciate it then.  I don't appreciate it now.  I resent it, it's not ture, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my presidency."

Lauer seemed incredulous: "You're not saying that the worst moment in your presidency was watching the misery in Louisiana?  You're saying it was when someone insulted you because of that?"

Bush stammered: "No -- that -- and I make it clear that the misery in Louisiana affected me deeply as well.  There's a lot of tough moments in the book.  And it was a disgusting moment, pure and simple."
