Season Five America’s Got Talent Winner: Michael Grimm
The NBC finale of America’s Got Talent season five aired on Wednesday night. Vying for the $1 million prize and Vegas gig were Prince Poppycock, performance troupe Fighting Gravity, opera phenom Jackie Evancho and soulful crooner Michael Grimm.
During the two-hour prelude to announcing the winner, each of the final four performed with one of their idols. Jackie Evancho sang with Sarah Brightman. Grimm performed Me and Bobby McGee with Jewel. Prince Poppycock got it on with Donna Summer and Fighting Gravity did their thing while Lionel Richie sang Dancing on the Ceiling.
The 2010 America’s Got Talent winner is Michael Grimm. The 30-year-old resides in Waveland, Mississippi. His grandparents lost everything in the Hurricane Katrina disaster. His goal when he auditioned for the reality show was to be able to buy his grandparents a new home with some of his prize money.
