ABC President Steve McPherson and KIIS-FM radio host Ryan Seacrest have been scheming to fill the slots for the next ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette’. Seacrest is lobbying for Kate Gosselin and McPherson offered Seacrest the ‘Bachelor’ gig right on the spot.

The host of the Fox show ‘American Idol’ was chatting it up with Mike Fleiss, creator of ‘The Bachelor’ and The Bachelorette’ franchise, and broached the subject of the reality show mother of eight as a potential ‘Bachelorette’. Fleiss said, “I guess it’s kinda interesting. I’ve never thought about it. Seriously, it would have to be a special edition of the ‘Bachelorette’ — I wouldn’t want to jump the shark.”

Ryan phoned McPherson to ask if he would be on board with Kate Gosselin on the hit reality show. The ABC head said, “That could be great! She was great on ‘Dancing with the Stars’.”

He then turned the tables on Ryan and said, “I would like to officially extend an invitation for you Ryan to be the next ‘Bachelor’.”

The radio host played it coy with McPherson but later told his radio sidekick Ellen K: “I don’t have the time…I have a contract with Fox.”
