“The comeback is always greater than the setback.”
That's one of the cringe-inducing aphorisms that Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino took to spouting in the months before his prison sentence.
But sometimes, cliches become cliches because of their inherent, universal truth.
And these days, Gia Giudice is likely finding great meaning in that particular Situation-ism.
As you've likely heard by now, Gia's father, Joe Giudice, was shipped off to Italy last week after spending the last seven months appealing his deportation ruling from the confines of an ICE detention center.
Joe plans to continue in his appeal battle, but the outlook is grim.
The bad news is, Joe is now stranded 4,500 miles from his wife and kids, forced to rebuild his life in a land where he doesn't know anybody and doesn't speak the language.
But believe it or not, there's good news as well.
For starters, take a look at Joe (below)!
The man last 50 freakin' pounds over the course of his stint, and he quite literally looks like a new man.
On top of that, it seems Joe will soon receive a welcome visit from abroad.
The photo above was posted by his 18-year-old daughter, who captioned the pic:
"So happy your together right now.. enjoy see you in a few weeks daddy."
Fans were quick to comment on Joe's trim figure and to congratulate him on his newfound freedom (despite the less-than-ideal circumstances of his release).
Amid all of the kind words, a handful of Gia's followers shared the same highly-specific observation:
“Holy s–t why does Joe Giudice look like The Situation I’m so confused,” wrote one fan.
“Meanwhile in other news Joe Giudice went to prison and came out Mike Sorrentino ‘The Situation,'” another commented.
Perhaps it was all that transformation talk that drew Mike's attention to Gia's post.
Whatever the case, The Sitch commented with his now oft-repeated observation about comebacks and setbacks.
“Sending positive vibes," he added.
Sorrentino was just released from prison last month, but it seems he and Joe had very different experiences.
For one thing, Juicy Joe served a much longer sentence - three years-plus to Mike's eight months.
More importantly, the Jersey Shore denizen says life's been gravy in the weeks since his release from the joint.
He's back at home, shooting new episodes of Shore, and working on starting a family with life Lauren Pesce.
By contrast, Joe is stuck in Naples awaiting a visit from Teresa Giudice, who is reportedly still planning to divorce him.
Insiders say, Teresa has already started dating someone new.
Moreover, she's only interested in making the trip because Bravo producers convinced her it would make for good TV.
So, yeah, that's where we're at in Jersey these days. Sounds like Joe could use all the positive vibes he can get ...
