Teddi Mellencamp has made a life-changing announcement.

But she’s now under fire for doing it on a date that changed thousands and thousands of lives back in 2001.

We’ll start with the announcement, though…

Speaking to Us Weekly, Mellencamp just confirmed that she and Edwin Arroyave are expecting a child together.

“I’m in my second trimester, 14 weeks,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills shared with this tabloid.

And while the Bravo personality initially kept her pregnancy “under wraps,” she tells the publication:

“Everything’s good and I’m in the clear, so I’m just starting to get to that point where I’m sharing with everybody.

"Plus now I have a bump, so there’s not much more hiding I’ll be able to do!”

This is true, as you can see below:

Mellancamp and Arroyave got married in 2011 and are already parents of Slate, 6, and Cruz, 5.

Arroyave is also the father of 10-year-old daughter, Isabella, from a previous relationship.

“They are so excited,” Mellancamp says of these kids, adding:

“They’ve been talking about it for a long time and actually it’s been my son who’s been like, ‘Mom, we need to have another baby,’ and I never wanted to get his hopes up.

"So when we told him, he was through the roof. So excited.”

Due to the timing of Teddi’s big news, however, not everyone on the Internet is equally psyched.

As you very likely know already, today is September 11.

It marks the 18-year anniversary of when two planes flew into the World Trade Center in New York City and another flew into the Pentagon, killing over 3,000 people in the process.

Therefore, while plenty of fans are simply happy for Teddi and her husband, others think she should have chosen a different date on which to make this confirmation.

"You are the true definition of a narcissist," criticized one follower, adding in anger:

"You could have announced your pregnancy yesterday or tomorrow but you choose 9/11?! Have some respect! It’s NOT all about you! 9/11 NEVER FORGET!!"

We’re not about to touch this controversy.

We’ll let readers debate the merits of this argument and just return instead to the facts of the situation.

Mellancamp tells Us Weekly that she used IVF to conceive Slate and Cruz — which explains why she was taken by total surprise this time around.

"We really weren’t doing anything! I was on vacation!" she says of how she was having intercourse and how she found out she was pregnant.

"Just having fun with my family! It was a complete surprise. I didn’t even know I was because I didn’t have a regular cycle."

We send our best wishes to Teddi Mellencamp on this joyous occasion.
