From the time she entered the international spotlight, Meghan Markle's awful family has been a constant thorn in her side.
The biggest d-bag among the duchess' envious stateside relatives is undoubtedly Samantha Markle who has admittedly devoted her life to destroying Meghan for fun and profit.
But if you thought Scammy Sammy is the only horrendous member of Meghan's family, you don't know the Markles.
Meghan's father is also the worst, he's just one of those terrible people who's under the mistaken impression that he's the victim.
While Samantha is openly evil, Thomas Markle Sr. just mopes through life with a "woe is me" expression on his face, and when he doesn't receive the pity he feels he deserves, he just lies.
As you may recall, Thomas faked a heart attack to get out of attending the royal wedding, which seems like an extreme length to go to just to get out of an invitation millions would kill for.
And that's just the beginning of his dishonesty.
This is also the guy who went on TV to claim that Meghan ghosted him, despite the fact that she'd been in regular contact, begging him to stop trashing her to the media.
We bring up Thomas' constant BS because for the first time in a long time, there's reason to be hopeful about the Markles.
That's because it looks as though Meghan has finally cut ties with the diseased branch of her family tree.
This glorious news comes to us courtesy of Katie Nicholl, royal expert and author of Harry and Meghan: Life, Loss, and Love.
“I think really she’s been incredibly hurt and disappointed by how many members of her family have behaved, but from what I am told, she’s moved on,” Nicholl tells Fox News.
Nicholl tells the network that the breaking point came when Meghan wrote a letter to her father pleading with him to show her some compassion -- a letter that he ignored.
"Daddy, It is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you're causing," Meghan wrote in the letter that Thomas later leaked to the press.
"Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces — not simply because you have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice not to tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this," the Duchess of Sussex continued, seemingly hinting that Thomas was being manipulated by Samantha.
So the bad news is, the Markles remain an awful and thoroughly dysfunctional family.
The good news is, Meghan has finally realized that they're never gonna change, and it's time to move on.
Who says 2019 is an endless parade of awfulness?
