For months now, reports of a feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have dominated British tabloid headlines.
Usually, such reports of royal head-butting turn out to be nonsense, but in the case of the warring duchesses, there's reason to believe.
At one point, the situation became so dire that Kensington Palace issued a statement about the feud.
If you're at all familiar with the royal family and its famous love of privacy, then we probably don't need to tell you what a big deal it is that they felt the need to acknowledge this scandal at all.
Of course, nothing goes down in the Royals' world without the approval of Queen Elizabeth II.
But the Queen is getting on in years (In fact, that's been the case since before the oldest Millennials were born.) so she's taken to delegating out some of her crisis management duties to the man who will one day, maybe, hopefully be king, Prince Charles.
From the start of the feud, there have been reports of Charles attempting to make peace between Kate and Meghan.
But sources concur that for the most part, Charles' efforts only made things worse.
In fact, insiders claim that Charles hosted a sort of peace summit at Anmer Hall during Christmas of 2017 (That's how long these two have been beefing!), but Kate and Meg both lost their tempers and stormed out.
However, it appears that Charles may have redeemed himself this past Christmas.
According to Princess Diana biographer Robert Jobson, Charles got tough with his daughters-in-law over the holidays and essentially ordered them to call a truce.
“I’m sure at Christmas Prince Charles was knocking heads together, and you can see that by those photographs of them all walking together in a line," Jobson recently told an Australian tabloid.
It would certainly help explain why Meg and Kate seem to be getting along better than usual in recent weeks.
Asked if the feud ever got as bad as the press claimed, Jobson hinted that it was pretty ugly at its worst.
"I think there’s no smoke without fire," Jobson said.
"I do think it has been blown up a little bit, but there have obviously been a few problems between the two ladies and even between the two princes. There’s some truth in the rumors.”
While Jobson acknowledges that there's at least a shred of truth to some of the rumors about Kate and Meghan's feud, he says the reports that Meg refuses to deliver her baby in the same hospital ward as Kate are complete BS.
"They’re going to be down in Frogmore Cottage, which is near Windsor, so they’re going to be out of town anyway," Jobson said of Meg's decision to deliver at the National Health Service Hospital.
That's all well and good.
But we're sure not risking being overshadowed by Kate's first post-baby photo ops was a bonus.
