For months, it seemed as though the British tabloids were unconcerned with anything other than the alleged feud between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
With the amount of ink spilled on the subject, you would think Kate and Meg had been taunting each other in Conor McGregor-style press conferences before stepping into the ring for a 12-round grudge match.
This all came to a head over the holidays, when it was rumored that Kate and Meghan planned to celebrate Christmas in different parts of the country, as though even spending time in the same city had become too much to bear.
Over the past week, however, with no new Duchess Wars developments to report on, the press shifted its focus back to Meghan's pregnancy and her ongoing battle with her awful family.
Now, however, Kate and Meg are making headlines again, thanks to the royal snub heard round the world.
Last week, Kate celebrated her 37th birthday, and according to Us Weekly, Meghan and Harry were not in attendance at her star-studded get-together.
We're sure Kensington Palace will eventually issue some sort of statement about how busy Meg and Karry were that weekend, but c'mon.
What could they have had scheduled that was more important than an opportunity to publicly squash the feud rumors that have been plaguing the royals for months?
Insiders are already issuing anonymous statements assuring the public that there's no cause for concern.
"The ‘feud’ is definitely being played up,” one source tells Us.
“Are they the best of friends? No. Do they speak every waking second? No. Do they hate each other? Absolutely not.”
Supposedly, at the center of the feud was Kate's suspicion that she had been used by Meghan to help win over Harry -- and then unceremoniously tossed to the side once the mission was accomplished.
“Meghan had used her to climb the royal ladder,” says the insider.
Supposedly, the hatchet was finally buried when -- despite rumors to the contrary -- Kate and Meghan did celebrate Christmas together at Anmer Hall, where they talked out their differences at the Queen's insistence.
But either they simply put on a show of making peace, or their truce didn't last very long, because it seems the duchesses once again want nothing to do with one another.
Sources claim Meghan is simply stressed out at the moment, and she plans to patch things up with Kate after she welcomes her baby in May.
“Meghan has so much on her plate, between being pregnant and dealing with the public backlash, and she’s finding the whole situation incredibly stressful," says one insider.
Something tells us, Meg won't find it any easier to tolerate Kate once she's also coping with 3 am feedings.
