Dakota Meyer apparently did not know what he was signing up for.
The veteran service member and father of two little girls has been featured prominently on the latest season of Teen Mom OG — but not in a very positive light.
He and ex-wife Bristol Palin have fought over his PTSD, their floundering romance and lots more, as vicious words have been uttered and ugly arguments have been depicted.
We’ve seen the relationship fall apart more and more each week.
What did Meyer Tweet about the long-running series and why?
Scroll down for a look at his chief complaint and see if you agree…
A Reluctant Reality Star Dakota Meyer has spent more of his Teen Mom OG stint fighting with Bristol Palin. Viewers have watched their marriage fall apart in front of the camera.
It’s Been Very Awkward at Times (MTV) On the Teen Mom OG season premiere, Palin said that Meyer’s PTSD (which is the result of many in his platoon getting killed in Afghanistan) has been “hard” on the then-couple’s marriage.
The Guy is Dealing with Serious Sh-t (MTV) “My anxiety has been going nuts, it’s been crushing me, I’ve been having nightmares,” Meyer explained to his wife on the premiere. “I’ve tried to tell you over and over and asked you for help a thousand times. All you want to do is tell me all the things that are wrong with me and all the things I do wrong when I have anxiety.”
And Palin Lacked Compassion “It’s hard for me to have compassion in these situations because you keep pulling the rug from underneath me,” she responded to Meyer’s vulnerable admission. She even questioned whether “this is his service” to blame “or this is just him being a dick.” Yikes, right???
This Comment Set Meyer Off For good reason, right? “End of the day, I watched my whole f-cking team die on September 8, 2009,” he shot back. “There’s not one day I don’t wake up and I don’t see those guys, listening to them screaming on the radios. I gotta sit here and listen to her saying its a f-cking excuse? I don’t know what’s PTSD or what’s not?”
This Show Sucks! Seemingly unaware that Teen Mom is all about drama between cast members or between cast members and their significant others, Meyer snapped on December 4 and Tweeted: “What’s sad is that @Viacom has turned @TeenMom into a trailer trash Real Housewives instead of showing what the true struggles of parenting are. I’ll bring my VLOG back and show you what single parenting looks like since they can’t seem to figure it out.”
So Much for Female Empowerment, He Added He’s right. But was this really ever the goal of the program?
This is NOT What Parenthood Looks Like Meyer took a screenshot of his Tweet and shared it on Instagram along with the caption: “It’s time to call it what it is @teenmom parenting is way more than everyone sitting around bitching about their ex’s.”
D’Uh, Right? But, again, this series was never meant to be a lesson in young parenthood. It was always meant to basically be a version of The Real Housewives franchise for MTV, just with some cute babies featured on occasion.
Dakota is a Sympathetic Figure Due to His Service… … but he’s also engaged with Bristol on social media, turning a dispute about whether he was present for the birth of his first child, for example, into a public battle. “For Bristol to state that Sailor didn’t have a dad is laughable,” he wrote in October.
He Was Just Defending Himself from an Attack We know this. But the ugliest exchanges between Bristol and Dakota have taken place off camera is all. “What really happened is Bristol kept our daughter from having a father present at birth and until the courts ruled that I was her father,” he added on Instagram in this case. “I can promise you this, Sailor and Atlee always had a dad, and always will have a dad.”
Of Course Bristol Responded She called Meyer an evil liar for his rant against her this fall.
And Then Meyer Responded! “When you get rid of the cancer in your life, you can go live,” he said of Bristol, comparing her to an often fatal illness and taking their feud to a whole new level.
Down with Bristol! In this interview, Meyer said he’s been far more relaxed since splitting from Palin in early 2018: “Since Bristol moved out of my house I haven’t had to get any shots in my neck. I haven’t had to take any Ketamine. I haven’t had to take any medication.”
Meyer Just Kept Slamming His Ex-Wife (MTV) “Before Bristol I couldn’t have appreciated a good woman in my life,” he said on Instagram just several weeks ago. “But now, [after] being treated like shit by somebody, I understand what it’s like to be treated terrible and not have someone give a shtt about you and be stuck with them, and have to put up with that.”
On the Latest Episode… (MTV) Palin talked to nine-year old son Tripp about his relationship with Meyer, which has been greatly affected by the couple’s break-up.
But Meyer Has Insisted That He’ll Always Be There for Tripp He did not on air, however, that “I’m not going to push anything.”
A Biological Father of Two Bristol and Dakota have two kids together, Sailor and Atlee. The former told Us Weekly in September that they try to remain on good terms of the sake of these kids: “We’re trying to navigate coparenting and navigating coparenting in the public eye can be difficult. We’ve got two young girls and we have to communicate and focus on the girls and do what’s best for them.”
Dakota Agreed at the Time He told the same tabloid in early October: “Our relationship, as far as me and Bristol, is the best it’s ever been. Our coparenting has been great. We’re focused on our children and what’s in the best interest of our children and I see nothing that leads me to believe it won’t be better in the future.” Clearly, a lot has changed since then.
