New questions and new details have emerged in the few short days since Jackson Odell was found dead in Arizona.
The actor and musician passed away late last week at the young age of 20, following a multi-year acting career best known to television fans for his recurring role as Ari on The Goldbergs.
Odell appeared on eight episodes of this ABC sitcom.
The young star's resume also included stints on iCarly, The Fosters and Modern Family.
In the wakeof this horrible news, outlets have seemed divided on whether Odell's body was found in his own home or in a sober living facility.
However, Ed Winter, assistant chief of operations for the Los Angeles coroner’s office, tells Radar Online that the manager of the latter type of residence is the one who came across Odell last Friday.
“He went to check on Mr. Odell and found him in his room unresponsive,” Winter explains to Radar, adding of the series of very sad events:
"He called paramedics and they pronounced him dead at the scene.”
None of Odell's roommates were around at the time, Winter adds.
The exact cause of death is unknown at this time, which runs in contrast to a claim by Radar itself that Odell died of a heroin overdose.
Yes, the actor had a history of substance abuse, hence his stay at the sober living facility.
But it remains a huge and dangerous leap at the moment to therefore state that he died of an overdose.
“He didn’t appear to have been intoxicated, because there were no drugs at the scene and no drugs were found in the house,” Winter says.
We may not know for a few weeks, after many tests are run and reports filed, just what led to Odell's passing.
“The cause of death is deferred pending further tests and toxicology, which will take approximately three weeks,” Winter concluded.
This is what Jackson's loved ones said in a statement shortly after their worst nightmare became a reality over the weekend:
The Odell family has lost our beloved son and brother, Jackson Odell, on Friday. He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul. He had so much more to share.
Our family will always carry that truth forward. Our wish is that the rest of the world who knew and loved him does as well.
Among other social media users and celebrities who also expressed their sorrow and condolences over Odell's passing, Modern Family actress Ariel Winter stood out.
She had been close to Jackson ever since he broke into the acting business eight years ago.
"Devastated to hear about the passing of Jackson Odell," Winter wrote, adding in heartbreaking detail:
"I knew Jackson since we were 12 years old, and he even appeared in an episode of Modern Family.
"We didn’t talk much as we entered our high school years, but I’m glad I got to spend time with him before his end.
"Very hard for me to hear about anyone passing away, but someone so young really saddens me. Sending love to his family and friends."
We echo this sentiment.
May Jackson Odell rest in peace.
