Luann de Lesseps has taken the first step toward recovery:
The Real Housewives of New York City cast member has admitted she has a problem.
Just a few days after she was arrested for some very embarrassing and troubling behavior in Palm Beach, de Lesseps has announced that she's checking into rehab.
She acknowledges that she needs professional help.
“After the events of last Saturday night in Palm Beach, I am truly embarrassed,” says the long-time Bravo star via statement, adding:
“I have decided to seek professional guidance and will be voluntarily checking into an alcohol treatment center. I intend to turn this unfortunate incident into a positive life changing event.
"Once again, I sincerely apologize for my actions. I have the greatest respect for police officers and the job they do.
"My actions alleged in the police report do not reflect my core values and my law abiding character."
We certainly wish Luann the best.
And we don't mean to pass judgment, nor can we truly understand what's been going on with her...
... but the events from last weekend do seem like enough on their own to warrant this step.
de Lesseps has been charged with FOUR felonies after she and an ex-lover broke into a Florida hotel room and refused to leave at the behest of a security guard.
After police were called to the scene, Luann locked herself in a bathroom and pushed an officer upon her escape.
She then somehow managed to break free from her handcuffs and cause more mayhem, yelling about how she's going to kill everyone.
Seriously, check out the crazy arrest details HERE.
The trip to Palm Beach was Luann's first time back in that city after she married Tom D'Agostino there.
The pair split just a few months later and Luann cites this trauma as the basis for her drunken breakdown.
This is what she Tweeted upon being released from custody:
I want to offer my most sincere apologies to anyone that I might have offended with my behavior. This was my first time in Palm Beach since my wedding and being here brought up buried emotions.
I am committed to a transformative and hopeful 2018.
She is due in court for a hearing on January 25 - and she will NOT be fired from Bravo.
We wish Luann well.
