If you watch Teen Mom: OG online, then you're likely familiar with the drama surrounding Ryan Edwards' substance abuse issues.
Maci Bookout's ex checked into last month, but not before creating some of the most appalling scenes in the franchise's history.
The most recent Teen Mom OG season finale offered MTV viewers a glimpse at Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer's wedding.
A grim, rushed affair attended only by Edwards' parents, the wedding resulted in more questions and controversies than joy.
Even more astonishing than the sullen nature of the occasion, of course, was the manner in which Edwards and Mackenzie arrived.
A visibly intoxicated Ryan drove himself and his fiancee to the ceremony, so high behind the wheel that he was barely awake.
As Edwards frequently nodded off, Standifer switched off the dash camera, so as to prevent viewers from seeing just how inebriated he was.
On social media, there was a wild uproar from fans over the network's (and/or Mackenzie's) decision to let Edwards drive under the influence.
(Both Standifer and MTV have taken considerable flak for the scene, though a Teen Mom crew member offered an interesting defense.)
Now, eagle-eyed viewers have noticed that further cause for concern was captured on camera in the controversial episode.
In several screen grabs from the finale, it appears as though the 28-year-old may have recently used intravenous drugs.
During the controversial scene in the car, Standifer accuses Edwards of taking Xanax before his wedding ceremony.
Now it looks as though even those whom he's closest to did not realize the alarming severity of Ryan's drug problem.
Take a look at the screen shot below ...
Dr. Pawan Grover, an addiction specialist who has not treated Edwards, tells Radar that this may be a sign of something much worse.
Edwards, the doctor theorizes, may well have been injecting some sort of substance, most likely of the opioid variety.
“Based on Edwards’ history with addiction issues on the show, the images are consistent with track marks,” says Dr. Grover.
“Which is a tell-tale sign of chronic intravenous drug use.”
Fortunately, Edwards completed treatment for his addictions earlier this month, issuing a statement that he is clean and sober.
Unfortunately, he was in treatment for a scant four weeks.
Even more unfortunately, he announced his release with a brutal social media attack on his son Bentley's mother, Maci.
Many fans are taking that as an indication that Edwards has yet to address all of his demons and get his head on straight.
He and Bookout have been through a lot, and while we believe she truly does wish him well, she will protect Bentley too.
Ironically, Ryan rushed his wedding to Mackenzie in part to better his standing in future custody negotiations with Maci.
(Ryan and Maci were never married, but the idea that he's married to someone at all ostensibly suggests stability.)
This week did not do either of them any favors.
We'll have further updates on this story as more information becomes available, and continue to wish Ryan the best.
