There was a time when it looked like Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin might pull off the impossible and maintain a completely amicable relationship.
You know, the kind where adults put aside their differences and focus on their offspring and co-parenting in the wake of their messy divorce.
Then things got real in a very ugly way.
Javi entered Kailyn's home without permission; restraining orders were issued; barbs were traded passive aggressively and just aggressively.
Basically, the Teen Mom 2-some did exactly what they said they weren't going to do and fell right into all the usual bad breakup traps.
Now, however, it seems they've seen the light, or are at least trying to put their best foot (feet?) forward for the appropriate reasons.
Reaffirming their commitment to putting the needs of their son (and Javi's stepson) first, they've been saying and doing the right things.
Some fans were surprised when Kailyn posted a photo of Javi playing soccer with her 7-year-old son Isaac on Snapchat over the weekend.
Check out the image in question below:
Though Isaac is not Javi's son (he's Jo Rivera's), Marroquin has stated on several occasions that he thinks of the boy as his own.
He has also said he plans to continue being a part of young Isaac's life despite no longer being married to Kailyn Lowry.
The photo seems to be proof that he's kept his promise and is trying to overcome any differences in hopes of providing a stable home environment.
Just as importantly, it's proof that Kailyn is doing the same.
The fact that she remains open to allowing Javi to be involved in the upbringings of her boys is a contrast to the tensions of recent months.
Kailyn and Lowry's co-parenting efforts hit a major rough patch in recent months, but the exes seem committed to working things out.
Things started to go south around the time that Kailyn announced she was pregnant with her third child, not long after the pair broke up.
They deteriorated further when Javi began dating Madison Channing Walls, a fellow MTV star of Real World fame and single parent.
For a while, it seemed that Javi and Kailyn would never again be on good terms with one another, but then a switch flipped.
Amazingly, it looks as though they've managed to at least temporarily bury the hatchet for the sake of the kids and themselves.
“We are actually doing really well,” Javi told Radar Online. “Everything is behind us now and we’ve moved on."
"It’s all about the boys now and it’s great.”
Javi backed up this statement again this week when he laughed off the reveal of Chris Lopez as Kailyn's third baby daddy.
His response to that bombshell dropped by Lowry was basically a shrug and a LOL, since it wasn't news to him, he said.
Here's hoping they can stay the course for the sake of their boys, and her unborn child as well. It will not be easy at all.
