Reports of Hugh Hefner's death have been greatly exaggerated.
To just how much of an extent?
Consider: Hugh Hefner is not dead at all! He's actually alive and seemingly doing well.
In late September, The New York Post claimed that the elderly founder of Playboy was gravely ill.
A source told the newspaper that Hefner was "super sick" and weighing only 90 pounds.
Why had we not heard about Hefner's declining health until it hit this late stage? Because, the insider argued, anyone who saw Hefner was forced to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Just a day after this report went viral, however, Hefner had some fun with rumors of his demise.
"I wish the tabloids had informed me a little earlier in the week that I'm sick. I might have cancelled my weekend plans," he joked on Twitter.
It is true, however, that Hefner has said very little on social media over the past few months.
Then again, the guy is 90 years old. It's pretty amazing he even know how to turn a computer on.
On Thanksgiving, however, Hefner reminded folks that he's still very much among the living.
Donning his signature red smoking jacket and a smile on his face, the beloved senior citizen sat at the dining table with son Cooper by his side, along with Cooper’s fiancée, Scarlett Byrne, and a family friend.
"Hope everyone is having a lovely evening with family and friends," Hefner wrote as a caption. "Happy Thanksgiving all.”
The image was originally shared by Cooper, but Hefner retweeted it.
This message marked the first time the 90-year-old has written anything on his social media page since September 30, when he laughed off reports that he was dying, as cited above.
Hefner remained editor in chief of Playboy, although Cooper is now the chief creative officer.
And since Playboy no longer runs nude photos, a lot of creativity is needed in order to make sure people still buy the magazine.
As for what someone who was once very close to Hefner has said about her time living under his roof?
Let's just say that Holly Madison won't be returning to the Playboy Mansion any time soon...
