Brad Pitt filed documents in Los Angeles, contesting Angelina Jolie's move to have sole physical and legal custody of the couple's brood of kids.
Most people thought that Brad would just wait and "behave," and that the courts would decide this for themselves, but it's apparent that things are either going super well with the kids, or things are becoming far more contentious with Jolie.
Looks like a custody battle is loooming hard.
TMZ reported that Pitt finally answered Jolie's petition, and instead of taking it lying down, he counter-filed, and requested the same rights as Angelina: joint physical and legal custody of their six children.
Neither of the two are reportedly seeking spousal support, according to the document, which is good, because greed.
Brad's petition also named September 15th as the couple's separation date, and, like Angelina, cites "irreconcilable differences" ... which means that his only concern here is the children, and he apparently has no desire to reconcile with Jolie.
Not like we blame him.
Sources at People have said that the children are, indeed, staying with Angelina.
"The kids are Angie’s sole focus," the source revealed.
"She’s cancelled everything else - work, everything."
The insider continued, "She’s been home each day, supporting them, helping them with homework, been there constantly."
"And no," the source added, "this isn’t with a big staff of nannies and helpers."
Looks like Taylor Swift isn't the most calculating woman in the business - it's shrewd Jolie, as making herself seem like the perfect mom would be a great way to be granted sole custody.
Things sound contentious enough, in fact, that People reported that the couple isn't even on speaking terms.
Another family source said, "They are still working on issues that they can’t agree on."
"It seems their issues still involve the kids.”
“Brad and Angie haven’t had any contact," the insider continued, "and it’s all being worked out via their teams."
"It’s just a sad situation," the source said, which is like saying that the sun is pretty hot.
The bottom line is that Brad Pitt does not strike us as a child abuser ... and keeping your kids away from their father for the sake of ego, or jealousy, or selfishness, is just about the sickest thing you can do.
There are so many fathers out there who are even fitter as parents than their "other" halves, but fathers are the ones who normally - and ultimately - get the shaft.
Good luck, Brad.
