The following video is the closest we'll ever get to being just like George Clooney:
That's because the actor is asked by a CNN reporter in the above clip for his take on Angelina Jolie filing for divorce from Brad Pitt.
Clooney is seemingly very close to Pitt, after all, having starred in the Ocean's 11 franchise alongside him and having famously partied with his fellow actor on numerous occasions.
So clearly Clooney has a well thought-out and reasonable opinion on this shocking split, right?
Wrong! He's actually learning about it for the first time in this video! He's just like we are.
He's stunned. He's at a loss of words. He has no more knowledge about what transpired between Pitt and Jolie than anyone else.
"I didn't know that. I feel very sorry then," Clooney replied to the question at Tuesday's Leaders Summit for Refugees at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
"That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that... This is the first I've heard of it."
This response raises many questions, of course.
Might Clooney and Pitt not actually be good friends?
It's certainly possible. They could just be former co-stars who get along perfectly well, but who don't share details of their personal lives with each other.
Or might Pitt have been so blindsided by Jolie's divorce filing that those close to him were also in the dark?
According to various reports, Jolie has decided to split from Pitt because she disagrees with his "methods" for parenting the couple's six children.
This is a broad, vague and foreboding basis for a divorce.
What could it mean?
With the rumor mill churning in full force, some are claiming Pitt drinks and smokes too much about the kids.
There's been little talk of an affair, although some outlets are peddling nonsense that Pitt cheated on Jolie with Allied co-star Marion Cotillard.
We're not buying that hot take.
The latest TMZ follow-up on the Angelina Jolie divorce claims that Pitt is "furious" at his estranged wife.
Not necessarily because she doesn't want to be married to him any longer, but because she has gone public with assertions of his terrible fatherhood.
Pitt seems to think this will create a huge paparazzi problem for this family, with photographers angling to get as many pictures as possible of him and his kids.
That's possible. But it wouldn't be our first concern if we were Brad Pitt.
It certainly wouldn't cause us to say that Jolie has unleashed Hell on all her loved ones.
Jolie filed divorce papers on Monday, saying in court documents that she and Pitt have been separated since September 15.
She cited "irreconcilable differences" for their split, and did not request child or spousal support for their six kids. She is seeking full physical custody, however.
This would seem to back up the claim that Pitt's fathering techniques and beliefs are to blame for the divorce.
"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," Pitt said in the statement. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
