It turns out that people like sex more than science fiction.
We suppose this should not come as a major surprise.
But days after the first Fifty Shades Darker trailer (below) hit the Internet, the world has been served a reminder of just how much people really, really, really like sex:
This Fifty Shades Darker trailer was viewed 114 million times in its first 24 hours of existence.
Yes, 114 MILLION TIMES.
That's a new record. The previous record was 112 million times in a 24-hour period and it belonged to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fifty Shades Darker, of course, is the follow-up to last year’s Fifty Shades of Grey. It will bring back Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey.
Check out the insanely wild first preview below:
Actress Eloise Mumford and author E.L. James took to social media to share their excitement over the trailer's debut.
"(is your heart racing too?)," Mumford, who portrays Anastasia's good friend Kate, tweeted to fans.
Responded James: "You're not alone, Eloise!"
The movie appears as if it will focus a bit more on suspense and mystery than Fifty Shades of Grey; not that there won't be sex.
Come on: there will be plenty of sex. Especially plenty of clothed shower sex.
But check out the trailer above and the GIF below to see a more frightened and confused Anastasia, who will end up delving into Christian's past a great deal in the sequel.
Oh, and Kim Basinger will also come on board. Yay!
Marcia Gay Harden, the actress behind Christian's mother, reacted to the news of the broken record on Twitter as follows:
"Impressive, most impressive."
Sort of scary and disturbing as well, but we agree. Most impressive! Wow!
Will you be lining up to see Fifty Shades Darker? Do you think it will also break the box office record(s) held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
Are you now concerned about us as a society?
So many questions from this stunning piece of news.
Fifty Shades Darker, meanwhile, opens on February 14, 2017. Yup: Valentine's Day.
One last point to make: REALLY, movie fans?!?
You're basically saying that you're more excited for Fifty Shades Darker than you were for Star Wars: The Force Awakens?!?!?!?!?
