Jon Voight obviously hasn't checked in with his daughter in awhile.
News that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt hit today, and every is wondering what happened, Voight included.
"It’s very sad," the Ray Donovan star told Inside Edition on September 20th.
"Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this."
"I don’t know what it is," Voight responded when asked what may have caused the end of their marriage.
"It’s a sad thing. Say a little prayer.
I am concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I will be seeing them very soon."
Probably not, since Voight and his daughter have had a fractured relationship for as long as anyone can remember.
Jolie didn't even tell him about her prophylactic mastectomy back in 2013, a proactive decision she made based on her family's history with cancer.
“My love and admiration for my daughter can't be explained in words. I saw her two days ago with my son Jamie. We all got together for his birthday, with her and Brad (Pitt)," Voight told New York Daily News after he found out about the surgery.
"But I didn't know. It wasn't obvious at all. I found out (Tuesday) morning,”
“I was as surprised as anyone and deeply moved by the way she’s handled this.
"She’s a very extraordinary person, the way she examined it and what she shared.”
As to why she filed for divorce? No one knows, but plenty are speculating.
"The final divorce decision was only made one week ago,” a source told Us Weekly.
“An incident took place and prompted [Angelina] to act and file.”
Page Six alleges that Pitt's affair with Allied co-star Marion Cotillard is the cause of the split, and that Jolie hired a private investigator to trail them, but another sources tells Us Weekly that the p.i. part simply isn't true.
As for Pitt's indiscretion? That might just be true, because though the source insists that "Marion is not the reason for the divorce," the cheating scandal "was the final straw" for Jolie.
