Unless you just stepped out of a time machine straight from 1998 and you still think the biggest Jay Z news involves his beef with Nas, then you've probably heard about Beyonce's Lemonade album and the controversy that surrounds it.
On the off chance that you did just arrive from the '90s - welcome!
Enjoy the new millennium during your visit; please don't check don't check out any coverage of the current presidential election, and allow us to bring you up to speed on Lemonade Gate:
You see, in the lyrics for her sixth studio album, Beyonce dropped some pretty clear hints that Jay cheated on her.
Some say Jay was pissed about the lyrics; others believe the whole thing was drama cooked up for the sake of album sales, and Hova was in on it from the start.
Either way, the rapper has been mum on the topic ever since the scandal began.
We may never know if this was just a clever publicity stunt from the Carters, but Jay finally responded to the controversy today in a way that makes us think the whole thing is about as authentic as your average reality show.
In a guest verse on a remix of a Fat Joe song (not the typical way to respond to rumors of marital trouble, but Jay and Bey aren't your typical couple), the rapper dropped the following lines:
"You know you made it when the fact/Your marriage made it is worth millions/Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is survival of the littlest.”
He's not necessarily saying that all the drama Bey addressed on Lemonade is made up, but it does seem like he's not too bothered by the whole thing.
Meanwhile, Page Six is claiming that the hip hop power couple is working on a surprise album together in which they'll both open about about their recent struggles:
“Jay and Beyoncé were never going to do an interview to address all the questions that came up after Lemonade," one source claims. "It’s more their style to respond through music.”
Something tells us Jay's not about to pour his heart out on wax, but we do expect the Carters to continue to address this whole thing musically.
Hopefully, we'll eventually get an answer to the question that's been on our mind for weeks:
Who the hell is Becky With the Good Hair?
