Joseph Duggar Drops Out of College as Family's "School Experiment" Fails: REPORT

by at .

As you probably know, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar like to exercise as much control over the lives of their 19 kids (and counting!) as humanly possible.

This means no social media until they've found a suitable partner, strict adherence to the long list of things that are banned in the Duggar household, and, of course, homeschooling.

Joseph Duggar (above) recently became the first Duggar to buck the homeschooling tradition when he shipped off to Crown Bible College in Powell, Tennessee, about 10 hours from his hometown of Tontitown, Arkansas.

The experiment didn't last very long, as according to the Duggars' Facebook page, Joseph is already back at home and working full-time for his father's real estate business.

Joseph turned 21 yesterday, and though the milestone is somewhat meaningless in the tee-totaling Duggar home, his parents marked the occasion by posting a birthday tribute on Facebook:

“21 years ago on a cold January day God gave us a sweet mellow baby boy, named Joseph, to warm our hearts and bring great joy to our family with his bright smile,” the Duggars wrote.

“Joseph just completed a year at Crown Bible College and is now back working with the Duggar family business doing construction. He now plans to acquire his real estate license and his CDL license.”

The post made no mention of why Joseph's time at school was so brief, but it seems that if he had earned some sort of certification or was planning to continue his education online, his parents would have mentioned it.

Surprisingly, the Duggars are not opposed to online education, though they've been burned by it in the past.

Last year, a minor controversy erupted when it was revealed that Jill Duggar had not received her midwife's certification, despite claiming that she'd fulfilled the requirements of an institution that offered a combination of online and in-person training.

As for Joseph, he's already shown an interest in entering the real family business - reality television.

Along with some of his other brothers, Joseph spoke out against Josh Duggar in the premiere episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, which debuted on TLC in December.
