According to The Associated Press, an arrest has been made in the killing of E'Dena Hines.
As previously reported, the 33-year old step-granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman was stabbed to death very early Sunday morning, with police finding Hines' body on the sidewalk outside her apartment in New York City.
Lamar Davenport has been charged with second-degree murder after authorities took him into custody yesterday and transported him to a local hospital along with Hines.
Police say Davenport and Hines were in a relationship, while a witness tells CBS News that he heard Hines and Davenport arguing from his apartment window approximately an hour before her body was discovered.
This onlooker witness said it appeared as if Davenport was attempting to perform an exorcism, yelling things such as "Devil, be gone."
Other witnesses relayed a similar account to Newsday, saying that Davenport was trying to "exorcise" Hines' "demons."
Speaking to People about the horrible incident, Freeman said of Hines:
"Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."
