With each news report about Josh Duggar, he and his family fall farther from grace (even when it seems like there's nowhere left to fall).
First, the eldest of TLC's 19 Kids & Counting admitted to behavior that included molesting four of his own sisters when he was a teen.
Then, shortly after, Josh was outed as an Ashley Madison user.
He couldn’t hide from his annihilated reputation, so the 27-year-old admitted to cheating on his wife and having an online porn addiction.
Now, sources close to the family are divided, and reeling. Says an insider speaking to People about the scandal(s) this week:
"It's hurting everyone involved. Everyone feels betrayed.”
To say the least. The Duggar family refused to comment on the matter, but the writing is on the wall. This family is f--ked up.
The 27-year-old former star of 19 Kids and Counting met his wife Anna at a Christian conference in 2006, the same year the police report against Josh was filed.
Both Josh’s and Anna’s parents are fundamentalist Christians who encourage a “courtship” between the two. (The Duggars don’t believe in “dating”).
At the time, the police report revealing the Josh Duggar molested five underage girls was not public.
A source close to Anna claimed, "We all knew that something had happened, but it definitely wasn't portrayed in its entirety.”
"Anna did know, but it was kind of something that was swept under the rug, and nobody made a big deal out of it.”
What is the most disturbing is that even when Anna’s parents learned that their future son-in-law is a sex offender, "they still gave their blessing," the source said.
Noting what many people have felt about Josh, the sourced also claimed, ”There was always something a bit odd about Josh.”
In 2008, Josh and Anna married. A year later, they welcomed their first child daughter Mackynzie. They went on to have three more children.
While living a secret life as a child molester, porn addiction, and unfaithful husband (not very Christian-like values), Josh also began his career as a high-profile lobbyist in Washington, D.C., promoting a right-wing Christina agenda.
"He sold it so well," said a Duggar family source.
Yet underneath his piety, the oldest child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar was living a life of perversion that starkly contrasted with his conservative facade of Christianity and family values.
The family is trying to recover their image and cope with yet another scandal in just a matter of three months.
Sources say they have turned to prayer: "Their faith is in no way rocked by this," claimed another source close to the family.
Prayer is one route. We think castration is a better one.
Sadly, Anna “is fully and permanently committed to her marriage and her children. Divorce is not even something that will be discussed."
Anna’s choices are limited by their adherence to the strict rules of the Quiverfuls - a fundamentalist sect of Christianity.
As mentioned in a recent Facebook post, Anna received no job training or formal education because Quiverfuls believe women should be only mothers and wives.
So even if she broke Quiverful tradition and divorced Josh, she would have four children to care for and no education or job skills. It's a grim future for Anna Duggar.
