Thomas Roberts made history over the weekend.
Yes, the 42-year old simply sat behind a desk and hosted The NBC Nightly News.
By doing so, however, he became the first openly gay man or woman to ever anchor a nightly news program on network television.
He also became the first openly gay man or woman to ever report on a Presidential candidate slamming a legendary war hero on network television.
In case you missed it on Saturday, Donald Trump really did go there with John McCain.
Speaking privately to a member of The Advocate's staff, Roberts (who hosts "MSNBC Live With Thomas Roberts" during the week) said this milestone was a "huge honor" for him.
Across the dial, there are a handful openly gay evening news anchors/reporters - such as MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, CNN's Anderson Cooper and CNN's Don Lemon - but Roberts is the first to serve in this capacity for one of the big four networks.
