Another hour, another scandal related to the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
First, Nicki Minaj bashed the event's nominations for only honoring those who "celebrate women with thin bodies," eventually clashing on Twitter with Taylor Swift over the remark.
Then, Azealia Banks accused the show (nay, the entire country!) of being racist against opinionated black women.
Now, the Parents Television Council has come out against Miley Cyrus as MTV VMA host. Hard.
“It’s not going to be safe for children to watch," PTC president Tim Winter tells Gossip Cop. "With Miley’s shtick, it’s probably going to be very edgy, very profane, very sexually explicit."
As depicted via a series of GIFs above, Miley nearly brought down the entire Internet back in 2013 when she gyrated her way through a racy routine with Robin Thicke.
"Based on everything we’ve seen Miley doing in recent years, she certainly seems angry and certainly seems enjoying being the provocateur," Winter adds of Cyrus.
He also says that he blames the network for choosing Miley more than Miley herself, though he notes it's "unfortunate she built her entire career on the backs of parents and now she’s basically giving them the middle finger."
In the end, Winter's aim is simply for MTV to rate the program TV-MA, as opposed to last year's rating of TV-14.
"Don’t show explicit content and rate it as appropriate for children," he says.
