Khloe Kardashian has reportedly been reaching out to Lamar Odom following the death of Jamie Sangouthai, her estranged spouse's best friend.
Probably a good thing, too.
Former NBA star Odom is shaken to the core after Sangouthai died of a reported overdose last weekend, hopping on a plane to his funeral.
Reportedly, Lamar was pounding Xanax and vodka en route to the event, triggering obvious fears that he'll once again spiral out of control.
Despite being separated for more than a year and a half, Khloe and Lamar are not divorced, and are reportedly in touch on a regular basis.
Perhaps that will be the lifeline Lamar needs. Both Khloe and her mom, Kris Jenner, are said to be reaching out to help the reeling Odom.
"Kris and Khloe have both spoken to Lamar,” a source close to them told Radar about the sensitive situation unfolding behind the scenes.
"They are trying to console him. They really want to make sure that he is ok right now and that he knows that they will do anything for him."
“Khloe knows how Lamar can turn to drugs and alcohol to numb his pain. She is keeping him from a dark place. She hopes she can help."
“Even though they’re split up, they’re still married and she does care about him," the insider adds. "Jamie’s death has scared everyone.”
Jamie Sangouthai's family is reportedly unable to pay for the funeral, so Kardashian, Jenner and Odom are making sure it's done right.
Whatever happens, “They’re all friends and they want to make sure that Jamie’s family doesn’t have to suffer anymore,” the source said.
Our thoughts are with Jamie's family, and with his friends. We really hope this tragedy does not trigger another Lamar Odom relapse.
