Talk of a 19 Kids & Counting spinoff starring Jill and Jessa Duggar and their husbands appears to be cooling off, at least for the time being.
Ever since TLC pulled 19 Kids & Counting and placed it on hiatus in the wake of the Josh Duggar molestation scandal, its future has been in doubt.
Rumors of a Jill and Jessa Duggar spinoff arose in the aftermath, as the married girls remain wildly popular and likely to be untainted by the scandal.
They've also been an increased focal point of 19 Kids as it is.
With Jill now a mother and married to Derick Dillard and Jessa about to welcome her first child with husband Ben Seewald, the torch could be passed.
It sounded good, anyway. It may never become reality (TV).
New reports say talk of a 19 Kids spinoff is very much premature and TLC is not seriously considering a Jill-Jessa series at this stage of the game.
There are “no real plans for any spinoff at this point,” a network source told Radar regarding the fabulous foursome that could save the Duggar brand.
The beleaguered network has yet to make any decisions about when to put the family back on the air, if at all, and is clearly not in a rush to do that.
After the events of the last 3-4 weeks, it's not hard to see why.
Even though the sisters are beloved by fans - perhaps even more so after they came forward as victims of Josh Duggar - their draw may not be enough.
With the story still unfolding thanks to their interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly, and new revelations almost daily, the risk could simply be too high.
The network is unquestionably feeling burned by the family for not disclosing this years ago, and likely wonders what other skeletons there may be.
Or the kids could have other ideas about the future.
Reports say Derick quit his job at Walmart (he wasn't fired, contrary to previous reports) and may soon be headed back to Nepal for missionary work.
