The new issue of Elle is one big love letter to "national treasure" Taylor Swift, and while she's fully covered-up by a sparkly jumpsuit on the cover, inside the magazine, the 25-year-old singer offers one of her most revealing interviews to date.
Yesterday, an excerpt revealed that Taylor doesn't believe in "happy endings" anymore (frowny face Emoji).
New portions that appeared online today seem to suggest that Taylor might still be a little bit hung up on Harry Styles (smiley face with the heart-eyes Emoji).
Asked about the song "Clean," which might have the most confessional lyrics of all the tracks on 1989 ("The drought was the very worst/When the flowers we'd grown together died of thirst"), Taylor shared a revealing anecdote about a British ex. (Who could that be?)
"I was walking out of Liberty in London," Swifty said. "Someone I used to date—it hit me that I’d been in the same city as him for two weeks and I hadn’t thought about it. When it did hit me, it was like, Oh, I hope he's doing well."
"A heartbroken person is unlike any other person. Their time moves at a completely different pace than ours. It’s this mental, physical, emotional ache and feeling so conflicted. Nothing distracts you from it."
"There were really insensitive jokes being made at awards shows by hosts; there were snarky headlines in the press—”Taylor Goes Through a Breakup: Well, That Was Swift!”—focusing on all the wrong things."
Taylor and Harry didn't date for very long, so if all the London stuff didn't drive the point home enough, the "that was Swift" remark makes it pretty clear she's referring to the One Direction heartthrob.
As for the "insensitive jokes by hosts at awards shows," remember Taylor's feud with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler?
Yeah, that was two years ago, girl. Might be time to shake it off.
