TLC has seemingly taken the first step toward canceling 19 Kids and Counting.
According to TMZ, the network has pulled this controversial reality show from its schedule, following the bombshell that Josh Duggar molested multiple young girls when he was a teenager.
Insiders say the overall fate of the reality program remains unclear; that it’s possible it remains on the air in the long run.
But there is simply too much heat on Josh Duggar and his parents at the moment. TLC had no choice but to at least temporarily yank 19 Kids and Counting from its lineup.
Late Thursday afternoon, Duggar, his parents and his wife all issued statements that addressed a series of heinous incidents in 2002.
Without specifically mentioning what he did, Josh Duggar confessed to acting "inexcusably" and expressed extreme regret over actions police have said include fondling the genitalia of his own siblings.
In response, General Mills has removed 19 Kids and Counting from their company's advertising schedule, while June Shannon has threatened a lawsuit against TLC.
If you'll recall, the network canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo amidst talk that Shannon was dating a convicted child molester.
In this case, of course, an admitted child molester is actually a main cast member on the show itself, which is what has prompted so many people to push for the program's outright cancelation.
Mike Huckabee is not among those people, however.
The 2016 Presidential candidate blames a "blood-thirsty media" for the negative attention that has come Josh Duggar's way and has said he's forgiven Duggar largely because "being a minor means that one’s judgment is not mature."
Do you agree with that assessment? Do you think TLC should cancel 19 Kids and Counting?
