Last night, the season premiere of Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer offered the usual mix of bawdy laughs and smart social commentary, but Schumer is a one-woman viral trend this morning for reasons that have nothing to do with her sketch show.
The recently published Time 100 list named Schumer as one of the most influential people in the world alongside such other dubious honorees as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
(No offense to Amy or Kanye, but are they really two of the world's most influential people?! Love her or hate her, Kim is probably the only one of the three who deserves that title. Sadly, talent does not equal influence.)
The increasingly irrelevant periodical held its annual star-studded gala to honor those who made the list, and as Vladimir Putin was unable to attend, it was expected to be a boring night of celebrity flattery on par with any Hollywood awards show.
Then this happened:
It's unclear exactly why Schumer decided to pull a Jennifer Lawrence in front of Kim and Kanye, but the A-list power couple was clearly not impressed.
Fortunately, everyone else on the red carpet saw the humor in the situation.
The stunt may not have worked out quite as well as she planned, but don't go crying for Schumer.
Between this and pretending to show David Letterman her vagina, the girl's been on a role lately, and with the third season of her cult hit series just now underway, the timing couldn't be better.
